I am addicted to books.. I need to read something at least once everyday, but I think newspapers are too depressing. So I used to buy at least 4 books every month because in average, I read one book every week. And as you know, books can be so expensive sometimes. I used to spend hundreds of ringgit a month for books. (I know its tax-deductable.. but I dont keep receipts, so..). Thats until about 3 or 4 months ago when Abang told me about this great amazing place called Bookstreams in Amcorp Mall. Its located on the 3rd floor, just above popular bookstore (ironic huh?)
Whats interesting about this shop is the fact that they sell new books for real cheap prices. I dont know how they manage to, and i'm not planning to investigate, i'm just embracing it. And I'm talking about real good quality books, not the lousy no-one-wants-to-buy books. Ranging fron fictions to hobbies to sci-fis to romance to children books to autobiographies.
Yesterday, when I was waiting for my client I dropped by the said bookstore and was planning to buy one book for me to kill the time. But because the prices wes rediculously cheap, I ended up buying 4 books. Guess how much I spent? RM 29.80! Doploh sembilan ringgit lapan puloh sen!!! for four books! four! empat! papat! cuatro! porfavor!! Arrgghh!! mi loco!
Anyway, one of the books that I bought was The Manny by Holly Peterson. I've been wanting to read it since forever. I saw it there and of course I had to buy it. It was only RM9.90! On the way down, I went into popular bookstore (i couldnt help it) to check the price.. They sold it for RM40 there. I mean, RM40 is kinda cheap for that kind of book but if u can save a bit, why the hell not?
So, for those who have been there, good for you.. and for those who haven't, just give it a shot. Its worth it. (And no, I am not the co-owner nor did I get any royalties for promoting the shop.. I just think that reading is great habit, everyone should read and this kind of amazing positive news should be shared with the world.. didn't they say sharing is caring?)
Oh by the way, the salesgirl told me that they'll have a new batch of new books coming early of march. I guess I'll be going again early of march.
Take care peeps!

If you like some classical book, you can check out www.gutenberg.org . Though some people are turn off with digital version of a book, I find it gives people the opportunity to explore the literature domain.
Thank you for this entry! I will make it a point to drop by the shop when I'm back in Msia. Waaa jelesnya aku! Books are crazy expensive here! Benci betul.
adakah anda mempunyai habit membaca di bilik termenung juga?
hehe.

thanks for that tip mate. i dont mind digital book. But i hate audio books though. My mind tends to wander when i just hear people talking for more than 1 hour..
fabmama:
i know how expensive books can be there.. when i was in dubai, i only bought 1 book, out of desperation.. the rest, i bought wherever i go for layover, as i usually get cabin crew discount.. but fear not, now u know about this little bookstore, u can buy a lorry full of books when u're here next time.
zetty:
ye zetty, saya juga membaca dibilik termenung.. tapi saya lebih suka baca magazine dalam bilik tu sebab ada artikel yang pendek2. so what i did was, i letak magazine rack kat sebelah toilet bowl.. bebila rasa nak melabur, boleh capai je kat sebelah... hahaha.. kalakar plak bercakap pasal pelaburan ni..
crescenet:

u know what.. i think u're right! I appologize for the wrong name of the book store.. I'm so glad that u find it interesting too!
i'm running really late. will publish the ralat later..
take care loly! love ya!
Hello, Faizah,
I googled bookXecess and found you writing about it too!
I go to the shop about once a month to heck out their stuff, they restock every month so chances are the books on offer changes quite rapidly. Kena pergi selalu lah. And the shop has a way of 'sucking' you into the wonderful world of books (whee!) and you'd end up buying more than you wanted... but still at a lower rate than you'd spend, say, at Kino (my old hangout) or even Pay Less (another fave spot).
Hope to bump into you there :)
Oh, btw, loved my copy of The Manny!
